Years before anything rose from the Cradle, the fleet fished these waters. Steer your hook down and land whatever bites — but a fish too heavy for your tackle will snap the line. Every catch feeds the salvage sonar: fill it and it finds lost tackle on the seafloor, each rod stronger and longer than the last. Seven rods down lies the Godhook — and below it, in the Cradle, something is waiting to be caught. Or to catch you.
The Godhook holds. The winch screams. For one glorious moment the whole catch breaks the surface, and the fleet cheers. Then the line goes taut the other way — and the boat begins its descent.
